Lightning Radio Voice Dave Mishkin talks about his "Blind Squirrel" novel.

Multitasking is a great skill. Imagine being able to call hockey games, write post-game reports and articles, grow your career from a point A - college to a point Z - NHL broadcasts, attend community events with your service dog, and… pen a novel. It turns out it’s possible if you’re Dave Mishkin.

The Tampa Bay Lightning radio voice has been with the organization for over 20 years. In a recent “Hockey on the Beach” podcast episode, Dave Mishkin takes the listeners down memory lane, explaining how he came up with a book idea, character development, and his junior years.

“Blind Squirrel” is a novel that benefits anyone interested in hockey, regardless of their knowledge, who also harbors doubts and mental health concerns. It may take a reader by surprise to discover a reading journey in various parts of the U.S., including Hershey, PA.

How many people do you know who have lived there or visited a small, cute hockey town?! Luckily, I was one of them. So, it was extra sweet to flip the book’s pages.
